Gavino Murgia
He was born in Nuoro (Sardinya), he started to study music and Alto Sax
since he was fourteen years old. Soon he started an intense musical
activity playing whith several light music bands and also in various
theatrical context.
The kind of music on which above all he focused his attention is jazz.
He
has played with many bands in the most important italian and
international Jazz festival; Poland, Austria, Spanish, Finland,
Switzerland, Germany, France, Russian, South Africa, Cuba, USA ect.
Among the jazz musicians he played with are, Mal Waldron, Rabih Abou Khalil, Paolo Fresu,
Don Moye, Gianluigi Trovesi, Michel Godard. Pietro Tonolo, Djivan Gasparian, Sainko
Namtcylak,
Al di Meola ecc. His present search concerns the sonours ness of
Sardinian Music particularly the use of voice whith a saxophone, and
other typical instruments of this island, in modern musical context.
His good number of recordings range from duet to orchestra performances.
