Carpe Diem

Carpe Diem is a label for Early Music and Improvised Music.

Carpe Diem concentrates on hitherto unknown and rarely played works. The label’s philosophy is to present exceptional artistic achievements in simple but exceptionally fine recording quality.

In the short period of its existence, it has already earned a string of accolades for the label and its artists. Our recordings do not take place in modern studio environments but rather at authentic places like churches, monasteries and historic concert halls. We use only the necessary minimum of technology, employing few microphones to record an ensemble in the natural spatial ambience of the room directly onto digital storage devices. Classical valve microphones are often used to give the digital recordings a special warmth. The reward for this costly and laborious high-end approach is a pure and genuine sound.
